Children have been hugely affected by COVID-19. In particular, the closing of schools has meant children have missed out on education, socialisation and routine. We have found that there has been a staggering difference in children’s experience at home over lockdown.
We want to offer children opportunities over the holidays to take part in fun, engaging and healthy activities whilst trying something new.
What and Why?
In these exciting and engaging activity days, children will get the opportunity to get involved in fun, active games with a yoga and wellbeing theme. The aim of the project is to give children access to something which they wouldn’t normally get to do. All the sessions include child-friendly activities including yoga, mindfulness and other more active games. We will also be working together on different stories, group activities and talking about positive behaviours such as developing confidence and resilience.
Our sessions are a great way to get children more active. Challenging, yet accessible to all age groups it has been proven to support concentration, focus and a range of other positive behaviours beyond the session itself.
Yoga Mike is an experienced yoga teacher who has worked extensively with primary schools across the North East and has a dedicated focus on improving children’s mental health and well-being.
We are running three sessions across the holidays for ages 5-11:
Base Camp Middlesbrough TS1 1DB: Wednesday 28th July 10-4pm
Willows Community Centre Stockton TS18 2HX: Monday 2nd August 10-4pm
Base Camp Middlesbrough TS1 1DB: Wednesday 11th August 10-4pm
The sessions are held in spacious areas, away from the public and has its own toilet facilities. Lunch will be provided. Children can be dropped off and picked up from there.
Parents can leave children with facilitators for the duration of the day. Either Yoga Mike or one of his expert team will deliver the sessions alongside a first aid trained member of staff.
Drop Mike a message if you have any questions at email@example.com
Q : What happens once I’ve booked on?
A : You will receive an email to confirm your booking which will have a link to complete the consent form – This must be completed prior to attending especially in relation to food allergies.
You can follow our social media channel for updates and further info at https://www.facebook.com/yogamikegroup
Q : What food will be provided?
A : We are aiming to provide a balance of nutritional, tasty food over lunchtime. This will likely involve sandwiches and a piece of fruit. Please let us know if you have any special requirements.
Q : Does my child need to have any Yoga experience?
A : Absolutely not! Our sessions are all inclusive and appropriate for children who’ve done Yoga
before and also for beginners.
Q : Do parents have to attend with the children?
A : No, parents/guardians can drop the children off with us and return to pick them up at the end of the session.
Q : What are the age limits?
A : We offer the session to 5-11 year olds. We feel this will allow children to be left for the day and the age gap isn’t too great that we can offer a broad range of activities suitable to all ages and abilities.
Q : Will my children be in a safe, secure space?
A : Yes, 100%! Children’s safety is our priority. The space is not accessible to the public, has its own toilet facilities and we will have a number of staff to ensure all children are supervised safely and appropriately. Yoga Mike or a member of his team and a first aid trained member of staff will be present
at all sessions.
Q : What does my child need to bring with them?
A : A drink of water would be a good idea for when we have a small break. Water can be provided if
necessary. Mats and everything else are provided.

A : Both venues are Covid secure venue and operates under government guidelines. There
is a strict cleaning regime and hand sanitizer will be available at all times. Social distancing will be
encouraged and numbers limited further if guidelines deem it necessary.

A : Both venues have ample parking outside. The Tilery venue has a large car park and Base Camp has roadside parking next to the venue (charges may apply).
